Cards Types - CHIP CARDS

Last updated: October 25, 2002

Hi,
I put here the informations I got during these years of cards collecting.
Cataloguing my collection I coded the different chips to keep information about similar cards with different chips and to give as many info as possible to other collectors during trades. Some of the abbreviation used are taken from the net (for examples the chip manifactured by Schlumberger) but for many other chip I cannot do this, an so I coded them by myself.
I apologize if this can confuse someone but I will be very glad to everyone who will help me to standardize this coding.

These cards have a magnetic band on the front size. The upper left corner must be removed to insert the card in the phone.

Some of the countries that use these cards are Italy, Poland, Bangladesh, Pakistan, but many other countries used them in the past since this has been the first technology used in telephonecards.

These cards are made of plastic with paper on one side while the back is white plastic. They are thicker than the others (about 1.5 mm).
I found they have been used in former USSR countries.
